Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection, Is About To Become Women’ Protest Garb.

In the making of its latest collection, activities were on different heights. Brains were storming in and out of several residences of inspiration. Creative receptors were on alert. What should it be? What should we create and release into the world? How do we want women to be clothed for the next few months? Who should women be? What should they say? Hold on, a bit. Maybe, what the world needs, right now, is a response to what has been created and released into it. Maybe, let’s do that: let’s create a response to what already is! The creative process in the studio progressed.

Outside its walls, conversations about gender issues had been ongoing in varying pitches. And the echo of what was being said was bouncing off and on her space. The news of women being at the receiving end of all gender-based injustices, swirled as a background music on a busy day. Therefore, it was heard, but not attentive to; empathized with, but not fought. And Ejiro Amos Tafiri, named after its founder; a woman, rose up to pump up the volume, in hope that a roaring statement will jolt up actions. For that reason, its latest collection is made of statement pieces that speak of the free agency of women, gender equality, and the meaning of words some men have had problems understanding.

This offering, from the house, was supposed to be worn in summer 2020, but the world was alone, together, and they are about to become a part of women’s protest garb, moving forward.
